Designed A Language Learning App for Multi-line Business

Challenge

A multi-line business approached Webdura in need of a language learning app for their selected executives. They wanted to combine the office system with a mobile technology to formulate a savvy approach to language learning. We were asked to bring a project to life with the objective of learning language through an app.

Team

Our team constituted 3 members and had a month’s time to come up with a viable solution. During the project commencement, we gave emphasis to client design. We built a custom app with a practical CMS, a content editor to manage the app content, and provisions for scalability to other languages. Client had given us complete control over the architecture of the mobile app, feature addition, PM techniques and deciding on the product stints.

Solution

The users being professionals, our biggest challenge was to create an app that is visually appealing, efficient that comes with an essence of entertainment. We came out with an engaging solution named Lyringo. Lyringo had language learning enabled through the lyrical display of videos. Visual input alongside lyrics/subtitles of the selected video would give the learner an entertaining approach for becoming the bee’s knees in the selected language for learning.

We designed the app in such a way that executives could select the video and play it along with lyrics in their native as well as learning language. Once the video starts displaying, the lyrics will show up. At any point of time the user can long press a specific word displaying in the lyrics. We also designed a pop up screen wherein the long pressed words will be displayed alongside translation and meaning. To make sure our users could get access to difficult words, we enabled the option of ‘Add to library’. This way professionals could refer the word directly from the library without having to search again. Furthermore, we added a ‘favourites’ list to filter the favourite videos that the user made frequent visits to.
